F-104

Lockheed RF-104G Starfighter
Hellenic Air Force (Polemiki Aeroporia)

335 mira (squadron) 116 pterix (wing)
Araxos Air Base 1987 to 1993

construction number 683D-6678, built by FIAT

modified to MARINE-Recce version in 1979 by MBB

The RF-104G is the Tactical Reconnaissance version of the Starfighter. The F-104G gun armament was deleted for several KS-67A cameras situated behind the nosewheel (in a small bump).
Another Camera type KS-87B is situated in the left side of the fuselage, in front of the port intake.
Please note that all RF-104G were not equipped with this inside fuselage equipment. Sometimes cameras were carried in an external central pod.
I choosed the first option. The camera housing system is made from pieces of several armament (piece of Missile with a correct size...). The glass of the side camera window is made with Kristal Klir glue.

On late Germans F-104 the new type of exhaust was installed.
They also received chaff and flare dispenser units on the rear fuselage.

I used :

  • ICARUS decals 72002 « Hellenic Air Force Jets partII »
  • Gunze and Tamiya Paints
  • CMK circuit breaker bay with oxygen bay
  • Aires exhaust
  • Verlinden Seat

In the backside you can see F-104G FG-415 built by MBB in 1971, coded 26+62 with MFG1, to Greece in 1988.
